The Context:
The site where the photographs were taken consists of four buildings and it is located 10 kilometers Southeast of Dubrovnik in Croatia. First building was constructed between two World Wars by the Czech investor and it functioned as a hotel. In 1950s the site was taken over by the Communists, where they built additional three modernist and brutalist buildings over the four decades and turned it into the military strategic place and resort for the elite of Yugoslav army, officers and their families. Due to the war in the 1990s the complex was bombarded by the Yugoslav army, and it became occupied by Croatian army from 1996 until 2000 in order to establish peace during those politically and historically turbulent times. Over the course of the past 22 years the site was further demolished, burglarized and heavily invaded by the graffiti artists. Now, it is in derelict state and the complex will be demolished later in 2021.
